Word is Out was the first single from Kylie's fourth album, Let's Get to It. The single showed a different side to Kylie's music, it was much more street-sounding than anything she had ever done before. The single failed to make a real impact, as it only was able to chart in a few countries, which was very disappointing for a Kylie single, especially for a lead single. It was the first Kylie single in the UK to miss the top ten.
